Badminton is a racket sport most commonly played for fun amongst family members and friends. Though it is not a major sport, it is still played competitively and individuals can win money by betting on it. Badminton, unknown to many, uses a shuttlecock, which can reach speeds of up to 200 mph when hit by a player. It is not a sport that should be dismissed as inferior to other better known ones. Top players must be agile, athletic and have quick reaction times. The international community recognized Badmintonís legitimacy in 1992 when it was made an Olympic sport. Unfortunately, it was dropped from the games after the 2008 Olympics.

Today, there are still major Badminton matches. In some countries, the games are even televised. Below, you will find information about Badminton betting, including which types of wagers are most prevalent, betting odds and other relevant information. We have also listed information about some of the sportís biggest and best events.
Badminton Betting Types and Odds
Olympic years have traditionally been among the busiest for Badminton betting, beginning in 1992, when it became an Olympic sport. In fact, many casual bettors only wager on Badminton during the Olympics. More involved bettors tend to also wager on World Championship and BWF Super Series matches. The aforementioned are played annually and give individuals a chance to bet on a more consistent basis. Most wagers are straight up bets, with the bettor choosing a winner.
Sportsbooks that offer Badminton betting will generally provide a listing of scheduled matches and the players who will participate in them. Each player will have their odds listed next to their name. More money will be offered to individuals that bet on players with the least chance of winning. Less money will be paid for wagers on the match favorite.
As mentioned above, most Badminton wagers are straight up bets. For example, if two players are scheduled for a match, the Sportsbook might list the bet in this manner:
Rava Shaver 1.50
Sona Jasper 3.50
Rava Shaver would be the favorite. This is obvious because bettors are offered a lower payout if they bet on him. Individuals stand to win $1.50 for every $1.00 they wager. Alternatively, Sona Jasper is the underdog. Individuals are eligible for a bigger payout if they bet on him. Individuals can potentially win $3.50 for every $1.00 they wager. This would mean more money. However, the chances that Jasper will actually win are slim.
